Sidewalk Snow Removal
Austin Code of Ordinances Chapter 7.04 requires property owners of the abutting private property with a public sidewalk to remove snow and ice within 12 hours after snow or ice has ceased to fall.
Beginning 24 hours after snow or ice has ceased to fall the City may cause to remove accumulations off public sidewalks. The property owner adjacent to where the snow was removed shall be personally liable for the cost of the service.
Clear snow the width of the sidewalk. Strollers and wheelchairs are used in the winter.
Please use sand or other similar material to prevent someone slipping on icy sidewalk areas.
Do not snow blow, shovel or plow snow into the public streets. Violators will be fined.
Call 507-437-9950 to report uncleared public sidewalks.
